Materials for Your Money Chocolate Box Gift

For this easy DIY money-themed Christmas gift, all you need is:

How to Make a Money Chocolate Box Gift: Step by Step

Have all your materials gathered? Now let’s get to work…

Step One: Empty Your Chocolate Box

This is by far the most delicious step! Your money chocolate box gift can’t function if there’s still chocolate in the box’s slots, so yes you have our permission to eat them all!

… but if your box has two levels of chocolate which they often do, then maybe save the one on the bottom for your lucky gift recipient.

Step Two: Start Filling in the Slots

How you choose to fill in your chocolate box slots is completely up to you!

We chose to use a variety of different folds/methods so the finished product had a bit more visual depth, but you could easily just use the same one over and over if you wish.

The simplest one for us was folding the bill into eighths.

This sounds basic, but when you fold it a bit like a staple and fit it into the box, it looks quite nice, like so:

Another easy idea is to add some coins into the circular slots:

We also did a bit of money origami, like this heart ring we made through this tutorial.

We also folded some money fans by pleating along the short side of the bill then folding the pleated stack in half to form a fan:

Lastly, we filled a few of the square slots by folding the bill in half lengthways (hot dog style) and then folding up to create a stacked square:

Step Three: Arrange All Your Creations Perfectly and Wrap

After all your slots are filled, make sure they are secure by gently shaking the box a bit. You want to ensure that your beautiful money creations don’t get disrupted in the wrapping/unwrapping process, so use a bit of tape to secure them if you need to.

… Then wrap it all up as you would any other box of chocolate, and you’re good to go!
